On Sunday 7th August 21 members from Archers Of East Riding travelled to
Burton Constable Hall to take part in the East Riding Shoot Competition and won
5 first places, 2 seconds, 2 best golds and more!!!
Seniors shooting an American Round 30 Arrows at 60 yards, 30 at 50 yards
and 30 at 40 yards. Michael Smith took
1st place with a score of 712 - Michael is a junior but shoots at the Senior
level. Steve Shipley took 2nd place with
a score of score 704. Other club members
scored as follows: David Reaney 656, Jess Walker 656, Andy Howe 631, Dean Lowe
594, Tim Booth 584, William Lundie 523, Paul Hancock 513, Glen Nelson 491,
Colin Loft342 and Carole Reaney 478.
Michael Smith took best gold at 60 yards and Jess Walker took best gold
at 50 yards. Michael Smith, Steve
Shipley, David & Carole Reaney took the Minster Cup for the club for
the 2nd year running.
Of our Longbow Archers Trevor Astley took 2nd place scoring 363 and Keith
Nicholson scored 289. Trevor also took home a Constable Arrow. Entering his
first competition Neil Murrey took first place with a score of 272 taking home
The George & Monica Thorley Salver.
Juniors shot Nationals rounds - under 16’s 4 dozen at 50 yards and
2 dozen at 40 yards. Taking 1st place was Blain Nicholson who scored 520 whilst
taking 2nd place was Thomas Mowforth score 526.
For the Under 14’s (4 dozen at 40 yrds and 2 dozen at 30 yards) Lewis
Booth took 1st place scoring 218.
Under 12’s (4 dozen at 30 yards and 2 dozen at 20 yards) saw Oliver
Darkings taking 1st place with a score of 485. Shooting at his first
competition since finishing the beginners course earlier this year (and using his
new bow that he had only shot twice before!) Sammy Beachell took 2nd place
scoring 35. Last, but not least, Joshua
Booth took first place in the Under 12’s Barebow competition with a score of 162.
